Extended Services
Extended Services
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), based in Jumla, Nepal, has extended its healthcare services across multiple districts in Karnali Province and neighboring regions. These initiatives aim to improve healthcare access in some of Nepal's most remote and underserved areas.
📍 Project Districts and Service Areas
KAHS's mandate encompasses several districts, including:
Karnali Zone: Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, Mugu
Bheri Zone: Jajarkot
Seti Zone: Bajura, Bajhang, Achham
Additional districts as per the federal system: Surkhet, Dailekh, Rukum,
Collectively, these areas represent some of the most geographically challenging and resource-limited regions in Nepal.
🏥 Community Health Outreach and Emergency Response
During the COVID-19 pandemic, KAHS deployed specialized medical teams to districts such as Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Mugu, Dolpa, and Rukum (West). These teams collaborated with local health workers to provide treatment, raise awareness, and manage outbreaks at the community level.
🧠 Mental Health Integration
In partnership with the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO Nepal), KAHS has integrated mental health services into primary healthcare in Jumla. This collaboration includes outpatient counseling, community-based support, and capacity building for local health workers.
